Cam McLeay
Active Adventure and Wellness
Cam McLeay has a passion for wellness, adventure and getting the most from life. He lived with his wife Kate and their three children in Uganda for over a decade, running tourism adventures and building schools and, today, Cam is world-renowned as an adventure guide, having co-lead the world’s longest river journey ‘Ascend the Nile’ from Egypt to Rwanda. His impressive credentials don’t end there, however; he and Kate established an international rafting business in six countries, and he has lead rafting expeditions around the globe for almost 40 years, now, counting Prince William, Joanna Lumley and the Top Gear presenters amongst his well-known guests. He has featured in, and narrated over a dozen international documentary films and now enjoys sharing tales of his exploits and adventures with guests closer to home.
Cam has taught yoga and mindfulness practice for over 20 years and brings this calm and special way to each of his journeys. He grew up on his family’s farm in the North Island, but rates the wilds of Fiordland and Rakiura (Stewart Island) amongst his most favourite places on the planet. In recent years, he has guided on board super-yachts, underwater in search of crayfish, free-diving for giant paua (abalone), trekking up wild rivers to catch trout and taking walks where few venture. He is passionate about surfing, kite-surfing, mountain biking and snow skiing and many adventures include one of more of these activities.
